My love of film started as a teenager with my Media studies teacher lending me a copy of Alain Resnais' iconic Night and Fog, it was unlike anything I'd ever watched - it made me realise the power of film, how it can touch and affect audiences and so my love of film was born...
Since 2008 I've been working in the film industry in various roles - I have experience across a variety of cinema, film and arts marketing disciplines; having worked with organisations including Altitude Film Entertainment, Arrow Films, BIFA, Birds’ Eye View, eOne, Curzon Artificial Eye, Curzon Cinemas & Curzon Home Cinema, National Theatre Live, Scottish Documentary Institute, Tate, Thunderbird Releasing and iFeatures (a Creative England Film Funding initiative).
I have also worked as the Head of Social Media and Grassroots Marketing with We Are The Tonic who provide film distribution and marketing consultancy services.
My expertise covers film exhibition and distribution, social media and grassroots marketing, audience development, event cinema marketing, membership development, new cinema venue launches as well as branding and sponsorship partnerships.

“Jo added real value to our regional campaign on SKATE KITCHEN. Her contacts in the regions meant that we were able to connect with audiences we might otherwise not have reached.”
Johanna von Fischer, Modern Films
"It was great working with Jo on the Blade of the Immortal theatrical release. Grass roots activity can often be hard to pull together without dedicated resource, and expectations for results can be mixed, so I was really thrilled with the amount of varied opportunities that she presented to me and then managed to follow through so successfully on. The delivery, execution, account management and reporting were all first-rate and I’d definitely utilise her services again."
Jonathan Sadler, Arrow Films
"Jo once again delivered a great regional campaign for us with LOVING VINCENT. The top performing site for our UK premiere satellite event was based in one of the cities Jo had worked closely with in promoting the film proving the absolute value of localised marketing with key organisations and partners. It was a pleasure to work with her again."
Lia Devlin, Altitude Film Distribution
"I worked with Jo on the film Patti Cake$ and was highly impressed with her organisation and efficiency. It was a busy project with a short lead-in that was trialling some new approaches - so a bit of a challenge! Jo hit the ground running in a way not many people could do. She recruited and managed a range of youth ambassadors, delivered the campaign on time and with great energy and enthusiasm. Jo’s experience really marks her out as one of a kind when it comes to film marketing, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to recommend her."
Alice Quigley, BFI Film Audience Network
"Jo was nothing but impressive in her management of the MOONLIGHT regional marketing for us. It was a time pressured project but Jo’s experience and the fact she is so calm, focussed and super organised meant that she was always 3 steps ahead.
She did a brilliant job of recruiting 4 people, generating ideas, collating plans, motivating the team, managing the budget to the penny and going the extra mile to get results. We were really pleased with the results and would work with Jo again in a heartbeat."
Lia Devlin, Altitude Film Distribution
"We love working with Jo. Her wide-ranging experience, in-depth knowledge and excellent contacts have been invaluable in building up BIFA’s audience networks. She’s organised, thorough and endlessly patient and has contributed an enormous amount to BIFA, delivering way above our expectations."
Amy Gustin & Deena Wallace, BIFA
“Jo was very well organised and diligent in her role as Regional Grassroots Project Manager on the I, Daniel Blake campaign; managing to successfully bring together the work of 5 Regional Marketing Officers from across the country. Her oversight of all the RMOs enabled them to produce regional campaigns that were conducive to the national activity, while also allowing for bespoke solutions specific to each area. Her reliability and dedication meant that despite the campaign’s size it always remained on track. It was a pleasure to work with Jo, we would certainly recommend her for future projects."
Michael Guerrero, Entertainment One UK
